Timber mouldings

Love your mouldings! But what are they?

Ever wondered what makes a real difference to an interior? It’s all down to the detail. ‘Timber Mouldings’ is a collective name for decorative pieces of wood that are shaped to provide a decorative or architectural feature. At Laver, these range from practical uses such as skirting to cornicing where edges meet, or aesthetic such as dado rails which divide up a wall expanse for a designed or period look. Our range of mouldings is extensive, made in hardwood, softwood, or MDF, we also provide a range of finishes and profiles. What’s a profile? The profile means the shape that the mouldings are made in as you look at them from the side-on. Who knew a profile can make such a difference!  .

Why do we need timber mouldings?

These fantastic items are integral to an interiors finish. Look around you. They are everywhere and give every interior a finished look. Practical and often beautiful. Mouldings are perfect for covering areas such as gaps where surfaces need to meet (hard floors and walls), mouldings add detail such as architraves around a door or window, and aesthetic elements to assign a look to a room.

Hardwood and softwood timber mouldings

Now here’s a test. Think you know your mouldings? These include skirting, plinths, architraves, door casings, linings, window boards, dado and hand rails and beading. Did you get all of these?

We have 120 mouldings’ products available which we make in our own mills. Our in-house experts will be able to advise you on the moulding you need. We’ll also help on the finish you’re after. Quick tip: we love the same look across your skirtings, architraves, door linings and window boards. Cornicing and coving can be made into a stand-out feature, or let them fade into the background painted the same colour as your ceiling. It’s your call.

MDF Mouldings

Not to be outdone, our range of MDF mouldings come with 160 profiles. It goes without saying that our MDF is twice primed and adheres to our environmental credentials. These mouldings can be chamfered and rounded, ogee, lambs tongue, ovolo and one edge. These profiles are offered in door stops, door linings, casings and window boards.

Go contemporary with a simpler profile such as one edge, or go for more intricate details, channelling a period look with ovolo or lambs tongue.

That bit different!

If standard just won’t do, we provide bespoke mouldings. Check out options with our knowledgeable team and they can help you create what you need. We love original!

Alternatively, we offer a range of KOTA™ MDF mouldings. These fantastic items come ready painted so no masking tape or white spirit required! A really simple way to finish your project and give it the detail it’s crying out for! This range is also perfect for larger orders. We know that adding these items, including prep and painting, can usually add a significant amount of time to a fit out, so look at this range and find out how simple these mouldings are to install.
