Cricket club cement way to a better ground
A local cricket club near Sheffield has been bowled over by a leading timber merchant's generous donation to the club.
Arnold Laver Timber World has donated £500 of building materials to Eckington Cricket Club at Derbyshire, to improve the ground's facilities for its players and spectators.
A mix of cement, breeze blocks, bricks, and hardcore has been given to the club, which is located within the grounds of Renishaw Hall, a venue that has hosted cricket since 1885.
Simon West, secretary at Eckington Cricket Club, said: "We are delighted with this donation and would like to say a big thank you to Arnold Laver. The materials are very useful for everything we need to modernise the facilities at the cricket ground."
"We are currently installing new cricket nets, site screens and a new stand for the score box."
Eckington Cricket Club has five junior teams and three senior teams that use the ground to play and train for tournaments against other cricket clubs across the region.
David Bree, Manager at Arnold Laver's Mosborough Call Collect, said: "We are really pleased that that we've been able to help Eckington Cricket Club to better its facilities.
We pride our self in the donations we give because we can really see how they make a difference to the local community."
